In 2009 Holmesterne Foods picked up 3 Gold, 2 Silver
and 2 Bronze Awards for a variety of innovative product
lines that were developed in-house.
At the 2009 Meat Management Industry Awards, Holmesterne
Foods won the 'Best Red Meat Product' category for its
Morrisons Pork Shank in cider & apple sauce.

This
product was developed as an alternative to the very
successful Lamb shank that we have seen in our restaurants
for a number of years now. Our prototype scooped first
prize in a foodservice competition a couple of years
ago, so when we showed Morrison’s our retail version
they were very excited about it, and decided to list
from February 2009. The product is a whole pork shank
slowly cooked in a cider and apple sauce. We only use
British Pork, fresh Bramley Apples and Somerset Cider.
During production the pork shank is twice cooked which
makes it an extremely succulent and tender product.
